Should diabetics wear compression socks to bed?

My feet swell sometimes due to my diabetes, and my doctor suggested compression socks during the day. But I'm wondering about night time. Should diabetics wear compression socks to bed, or is it better to remove them?

Ho na, this is a good question! My neighbour's dad is diabetic, and his doctor strictly told him NOT to wear compression socks to bed. It can actually restrict blood flow too much if worn while lying down. They are usually for when you are active. So, please, always ask the doctor for proper guidance.

My dadi has diabetes and she uses compression socks for swollen feet, but her doctor told her to take them off before sleeping. He said it's important for the blood to flow freely when she's resting. I think it's always best to ask the doctor about these things because every person's situation is different, especially with diabetes.

My endocrinologist specifically advised against wearing compression socks *to bed* for diabetics. He explained that while compression socks are great for improving circulation during the day or while sitting/standing, wearing them while lying down can actually impede blood flow when your legs are already elevated. It's crucial for diabetics to have unrestricted blood flow at night to prevent complications. Always follow your doctor's specific instructions.

Oh god, just one more thing to remember for diabetics, isn't it? 😄 But on a serious note, my friend's doctor was very clear on this: NO compression socks at night. They're meant to work against gravity during the day. At night, they can cause more problems than they solve. So, better to keep those feet free and easy while sleeping.

Hmm, interesting question! 🤔 I've heard that for most people, compression socks are mainly for daytime use to help with circulation when you're upright. Wearing them to bed for diabetics might actually be counterproductive as it can restrict flow when you're horizontal. Definitely a question for the doctor! 👩‍⚕️🩺
