Is white sourdough bread good for diabetics?

My brother-in-law, who has diabetes, recently mentioned he started eating sourdough bread. I was wondering, is white sourdough bread a good option for diabetics like him? We usually have regular atta bread.

Sourdough is slightly better than regular white bread because the fermentation process lowers its glycemic index. But at the end of the day, it is still made of refined flour. Don't eat it blindly; keep the portion small and check your sugar levels afterwards.

The wild fermentation in sourdough creates acids that slow down down starch absorption, which is great for insulin sensitivity. It is a solid pre-workout carb source. Just make sure to pair it with good fats and protein to slow down digestion even further.

I tried replacing my husband's rotis with various breads, including sourdough, to control his sugar. While it did spike his sugar slightly less than normal bread, nothing works as well as simple wheat rotis with plenty of leafy vegetables. Try it in moderation first to see how it suits you.

There is a lot of online hype about sourdough being a miracle bread for diabetics, but you must verify this with your doctor. Refined flour is still refined flour at the end of the day. Don't change your diet based on internet articles without medical supervision.

I panicked when my doctor said I was prediabetic and thought I had to give up all bread forever. Later, I found that having a single slice of sourdough with a lot of peanut butter didn't spike my sugar at all. It is all about how you pair your carbs.

If you are busy and need a quick breakfast, sourdough toast with eggs is a decent option. It digests slower than white bread, which helps prevent sudden glucose spikes. Just make sure you buy genuine sourdough, not the commercial ones with added yeast.

My dad has type 2 diabetes and we recently started getting sourdough from a local bakery. He has it occasionally with his morning eggs and his glucose monitor hasn't shown any major spikes so far. It seems like a pretty safe option.

I was researching this for my grandfather who loves bread. It seems real sourdough has prebiotic properties and a lower glycemic impact than regular bread, which sounds promising. I might buy a small loaf from a local bakery to test his sugar levels after he eats it.

I had gestational diabetes recently and was desperately looking for bread alternatives. My doctor allowed me one slice of toasted white sourdough paired with avocado and eggs, and my post-meal sugar readings were surprisingly stable. It was a lifesaver for my cravings.

I personally switched to white sourdough for my breakfast sandiwches to see if it helped with my glucose levels. I noticed my energy levels were much more stable compared to when I ate normal white bread. But everyone's body reacts differently, so keep a watch.
