Is white rice good for gestational diabetes?

Hi everyone, I'm currently 6 months pregnant and my doctor just told me I have gestational diabetes. I love eating rice, it's a staple in our house. My mother-in-law is telling me to stop eating white rice completely, but is it really that bad? Can I still have a little bit sometimes?

Having dealt with insulin resistance in PCOS, I know how easily starch can spike your levels. During pregnancy, this is even more critical. I would be very cautious with white rice, maybe try red rice or daliya instead, and always monitor your sugar after meals.

Please do not take diet advice from online forums for something as sensitive as gestational diabetes. What works for one person might cause a dangerous spike for you. Please consult your gynaecologist or a certified pregnancy nutritionist immediately.

When I had gestational diabetes during my second pregnancy, white rice was a big no because it immediately shot up my sugar levels. I switched to broken wheat and brown rice, which was much safer for my baby. It is tough but totally manageable for those few months.

My cousin had this last year and she was told to strictly avoid white rice during her pregnancy. She used to eat small bowls of boiled black rice or brown rice instead. It really helped keep her sugar readings stable.

Pregnancy is a blessed time, dear. Please be very careful with white rice because it can increase your blood sugar quickly. My doctor made me eat simple daliya and green sabzis, and it kept both me and my baby very healthy.

My grandmother insisted that a pregnant woman must eat white rice for strength, but my doctor strictly advised against it due to my gestational diabetes. I followed the doctor's advice and restricted my white rice intake, replacing it with small portions of ragi and whole wheat.

If you are working and don't have time to cook separate meals, managing this is hard. However, white rice is risky for gestational diabetes. Try quick alternatives like boiling quinoa or eating multi-grain rotis, which are faster to prepare and much safer for your blood sugar.

Haan, pregnancy mein sugar levels maintain karna bahut zaroori hai na. White rice khane se sugar kaafi jaldi spike hoti hai. Better hai aap doctor se consult karke brown rice ya oats chalu karo for safe readings.

I remember how incredibly stressed and guilty I felt when I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, it is so overwhelming. Just know that you are doing great. It is safer to limit white rice for now to keep your baby safe, but your doctor will guide you best on alternatives.

Beta, gestational diabetes is a delicate phase. White rice has high starch, so it is better to avoid it or eat it in very small, measured quantities. Always pair it with a lot of cooked vegetables and protein to slow down the sugar absorption.
