Is watermelon ok for diabetics?

I have diabetes and I'm always confused about what fruits are okay to eat. My neighbour said watermelon is fine in moderation. Is watermelon truly okay for diabetics to consume?

I totally get it, managing diabetes while wanting to enjoy summer fruits is so tough. Watermelon has a high glycemic index, so it can cause sugar spikes. It's usually okay in very small portions, but please check with your doctor first.

Watermelon is okay only if you strictly control the portion size. It has a high GI of around 72, which means fast sugar release. Keep it to a small cup maximum, or better yet, consult your diabetologist to be sure.

Beta, in our days we ate what was seasonal, but with diabetes, you must be very careful. Watermelon is very sweet, so eat only a slice or two during the day. Don't forget to take your regular medicines and consult your doctor.

I remember crying when I had to stop eating watermelon after my diagnosis, it felt so unfair. But keeping sugars stable is crucial. Please speak to your doctor about how much is safe for you so you don't feel completely deprived.

My father always says a little bit of fresh fruit is fine, but watermelon does raise blood sugar quickly. It is best to avoid the juice and eat a small portion of the fruit, but please consult your physician first.

I ignored my diet and suffered from severe diabetic neuropathy later on. Watermelon can spike your sugar very fast, so please do not eat it without checking with your doctor and monitoring your levels.
