Is watermelon high in sugar for diabetics?

My brother is diabetic and loves watermelon, especially in summer. He's concerned about its sugar content. Is watermelon considered high in sugar for diabetics, and should he limit his intake?

Yes, watermelon does have a high glycemic index, so it can spike blood sugar quickly! 🍉 It's best to enjoy it in very small portions and talk to your doctor about it. Stay safe! 😊

Watermelon is actually quite high on the glycemic index scale, around 72. Even though it is mostly water, the sugar it contains absorbs rapidly. I always suggest diabetics to limit their intake to a small cup occasionally.

My elders say that eating fresh fruit is always good, but watermelon is very sweet and can raise sugar levels quickly. It is always best to consult your endocrinologist to see how much is safe for you.

I agree, watermelon has a high glycemic index. Please stick to a very small portion and monitor your glucose levels afterwards.

Look, sugar is sugar, whether it comes from a fruit or a sweet. Watermelon is high in sugar for a diabetic, so don't eat big bowls of it. Keep the portion tiny and consult your doctor.
