Is watermelon good for diabetic people?

My father and uncle both have diabetes, so I'm very conscious about what fruits to offer them. Watermelon is so refreshing, but I'm always worried about the sugar. Is watermelon good for diabetic people?

My dad has diabetes and honestly, he is told to avoid eating too much watermelon. It has a lot of fast-digesting sugar which isn't great. If you really crave it, maybe just have a tiny slice and don't make it a regular habit.

I agree with others, it is okay in small quantities. Just make sure you never drink watermelon juice as it lacks fiber and spikes sugar very fast.

Watermelon is so refreshing in summers! 🍉 But yes, since it's high in sugar, diabetics need to be super careful. Just enjoy a very small portion occasionally and you should be good to go! 👍

It all comes down to your daily macro intake and physical activity. If you've had an active day or worked out, your body can handle a tiny amount of watermelon better. But generally, stick to lower GI fruits like berries or jamun.

Beta, in our times we used to eat all fruits, but nowadays diabetes is very common. Watermelon is very sweet, so eat it very sparingly. For sugar control, you can also look into jamun powder or methi seeds in the morning, but keep your doctor in the loop.

I know how frustrating it is when you have to overthink every single bite of fruit you want to enjoy. When I was diagnosed, I missed watermelon so much. But managing sugar is the priority, so please consult your doc before indulging.
