Is walking pneumonia contagious without fever?

My nephew has a cough and congestion, but no fever, and the doctor said it might be 'walking pneumonia'. We're worried about spreading it to others at home. Is this type of pneumonia contagious even without a fever?

Hey, don't worry too much, but yes, walking pneumonia can definitely be contagious even if there is no fever. It spreads through coughs and sneezes, so just make sure to wash your hands often and avoid sharing utensils. If you are feeling unwell, take plenty of rest and stay warm.

From what I understand, walking pneumonia is caused by bacteria and can still spread even without a high fever. Since my immunity can be a bit sensitive, I always prefer to be extra careful around coughing. It is always better to get a doctor's opinion rather than guessing.

My roommate had this last semester and honestly, none of us got sick, but he was coughing like crazy without any fever. He still isolated himself just to be safe. Better to wear a mask and keep your distance so you don't pass it to your friends.

Please do not ignore a persistent dry cough even if you don't have a fever. I once ignored a lingering cough thinking it was just dust allergy, and it turned into a severe chest infection that took weeks to cure. Go get your chest checked by a doctor right away.

Yes, it is contagious. Lack of fever doesn't mean the bacteria isn't active in your respiratory tract. If you or someone close has a continuous cough, consult a doctor immediately and get a proper prescription instead of waiting for symptoms to worsen.
