Is vomiting sign of labour?

I'm nearing my due date and have started feeling a lot of pressure, and I also vomited this morning. My neighbour, who has two kids, told me it might be a sign. Is vomiting a sign of labor?

Yes, nausea and vomiting can definitely happen during active labor as your body clears out the digestive system. During my pregnancy, I kept doing light prenatal walks which kept me active, but when labor started, my body felt completely different. Always keep your gynecologist informed about any such changes.

I can only share what happened with my wife when she went into labor last year. She suddenly felt very nauseous and threw up right before her regular contractions became intense. It seems to be a common sign for many women, but you should definitely call your maternity hospital or doctor to confirm.

Please be very careful with this. While vomiting can happen during labor, severe vomiting late in pregnancy can also be a sign of complications like preeclampsia. You should not wait or guess at home; contact your obstetrician immediately or go to the hospital to get your blood pressure and baby monitored.

When my wife's labor started, vomiting was one of the early signs along with lower back pain. Instead of searching online and wasting precious time, we immediately called our doctor and kept our hospital bag ready. If you are close to your due date and throwing up, just call your doctor right away.

When I was in labor with my first child, the intense pain and hormonal rush made me vomit during the transition phase. It is actually quite common, but it can drain your energy when you need it most. Make sure your husband or family contact your doctor immediately to guide you on when to head to the hospital.
