Is vomiting in public illegal?

I saw someone throw up on the street near a market, and a policeman came and fined them. I was surprised. Is vomiting in public actually illegal in India?

It's not illegal, but you might have to pay a fine for littering or public nuisance in some metro stations or clean city areas. Always carry a small plastic bag or newspaper with you to avoid any issues or fines.

Oh, definitely not illegal! It's a medical issue, so nobody can arrest you for being sick. Just try to find a restroom or a quiet drain side if you can!

I have thrown up in public once due to severe motion sickness during a bus journey. Nobody called the police, but people around do get annoyed, so it is best to carry a motion sickness bag.

Oh god, don't stress too much! It is just an embarrassing accident, not a crime. If you are feeling sick, just focus on getting home safely and drinking some water.

Legally, it is not a crime, but under municipal laws, you could be fined for public spitting or dirtying public property in some cities. My doctor actually advised me to always carry a paper bag when traveling if I have nausea.

I feel so bad for anyone who has to go through this, it is so humiliating. When I used to have travel sickness, I kept some dry ginger or saunf in my mouth to prevent throwing up in public places.
