Is vomiting a side effect of anesthesia?

I'm scheduled for a minor surgery next month and I'm a bit nervous about the anesthesia. My friend told me that vomiting is a common side effect of it. Is this true?

Yes, nausea and vomiting can definitely be a side effect of anesthesia, especially certain types or if you're prone to it. It's called PONV (Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting). Best to discuss this with your anesthesiologist before any procedure, they can often give anti-emetics beforehand to prevent it.

Oh, absolutely! Mere saath bhi hua tha after a minor surgery. The doc had warned me though. They usually give you some medication to help if you tell them beforehand. Also, try to eat very light and bland food the first day or two after, no heavy or spicy stuff.

Haan beta, it is quite common. Don't worry too much. In my time also, many people would feel a bit sick after an operation because of the medicines. The doctors now are much better at managing it, so just tell them your concerns. It passes quickly.

Hey! So sorry you're going through this or thinking about it. My friend actually had this happen after her wisdom tooth removal. They gave her some medication in the hospital, and she felt much better. Just make sure to communicate with your medical team, they're there to help you feel comfy!

Boss, if it's not one thing, it's another with health, na? Yeah, puking after anesthesia is a classic. My wife had it after her operation and said she felt like she was on a really bad rollercoaster. Just tell the docs, they have tricks up their sleeves for this stuff.

It happens, dear. After anesthesia, your body is a bit disoriented. For mild nausea, some sips of ginger tea or just plain water can sometimes help settle the stomach. But if it's severe or persistent, absolutely inform the doctors right away; they need to check if everything is okay.

Yeah, it can be. And honestly, it's better to prevent it if possible because feeling sick can make your recovery a bit tougher. Sometimes they offer specific anti-nausea meds beforehand, ask if that's part of the pre-op plan or if there's an extra charge. Good to know all costs involved.
