Is upper respiratory infection contagious without a fever?

My son has been coughing and sneezing a lot, but he doesn't have a fever. The doctor said it might be an upper respiratory infection. I'm wondering if an upper respiratory infection is still contagious even if there's no fever.

Oh, for sure! I used to panic if anyone coughed near me, thinking fever was the only sign of contagiousness. But no, you can definitely spread a URI even without a fever. Like, when you just have a runny nose or mild cough. It's best to cover your mouth and wash hands always, even if you feel mostly fine.

Yeah, definitely! My college roommate always used to say she was 'fine' just because she didn't have a fever, but she'd still be coughing and sneezing. You can totally spread germs even without a fever, especially in the early stages of a cold. So, wash your hands and keep a safe distance, please!

Absolutely, an upper respiratory infection can be contagious even if you don't have a fever. Many viruses spread through droplets from coughs or sneezes, and symptoms like a runny nose, sore throat, or mild cough are enough. So, practice good hand hygiene and avoid close contact, especially if you're feeling even a little off.

This is a good point! Sometimes you feel a bit sniffly and just think it's allergies, but it could be contagious. That's why I'm always careful not to share food or drinks with anyone who has even a slight cough. Don't want to miss out on my favorite biryani because I caught a bug, ya know? Always be careful!

My family always taught us that if you have a cough or runny nose, even without fever, you should be careful not to spread it. So yes, it can be contagious. Please cover your mouth and nose properly, and wash hands frequently. Better to be cautious and protect others. The doctor also says prevention is best.

Yes, absolutely. Fever is just one symptom; many URIs are highly contagious even when the fever hasn't started or is absent. The virus or bacteria is still present and can spread through respiratory droplets. Relying solely on 'no fever' is misleading. Always act with caution and hygiene. Best to consult a medical professional if you're unsure about symptoms.
