Is unsweetened applesauce good for diabetics?

My doctor suggested I cut down on sugar because of my borderline diabetes. I love applesauce, but regular ones have a lot of sugar. I'm wondering if unsweetened applesauce is a good and safe option for diabetics.

Look, with diabetes, you can't just trust anything you read online. While unsweetened applesauce sounds healthy, fruits still contain natural sugars. So, depending on the quantity and your individual sugar control, it might or might not be 'good'. Please, verify with your endocrinologist or a proper dietitian, don't take chances.

This is important. I once thought 'natural' was always good, and didn't check sugar content. Applesauce, even unsweetened, still has fruit sugar. It's better than sweetened versions, but you still need to be careful with portion sizes and check your blood sugar after. Don't make assumptions like I did.

Initially, when I was diagnosed, I used to panic about every single food item. Unsweetened applesauce is generally considered a safer snack than many other sugary options. The fiber in apples helps slow down sugar absorption. Just remember to have it in moderation, like half a cup, and you should be fine. Don't stress too much!

For diabetics, every carb counts, even from 'healthy' sources. Unsweetened applesauce is definitely a better choice than the sweetened kind, but it still has natural sugars. So, consider it a carb source and fit it into your daily carb allowance. Pair it with some protein or healthy fats to minimize sugar spikes.

Bete, apples are good for health. If it's unsweetened applesauce, it means no extra sugar, which is important for those with sugar disease. A little bit should be okay, like eating an apple only. But always eat in limits. God bless you.

I was just wondering about this too! My grandma has diabetes. So, unsweetened applesauce is okay, but how much is considered 'moderation'? Is it better than eating a whole apple directly? Just trying to understand.

I track all my macros and sugar intake using an app, and unsweetened applesauce often comes up as a decent low-glycemic option. It's lower in fiber than a whole apple, so that's something to note. But overall, it's a good snack if you portion control and log it in your app to see its impact on your blood sugar trends.
