Is type 2 diabetes genetic or lifestyle?

My doctor said I'm at high risk for type 2 diabetes, and we discussed lifestyle changes. But I also have family history. So, is type 2 diabetes more genetic, or is it mostly caused by lifestyle choices? I'm a bit confused.

It's actually a combination of both. Genetics give you a predisposition, but your lifestyle choices like diet, exercise, and weight management significantly influence whether it develops or not. So, you have a lot of control over it, even with a family history.

Haha, I wish it was just one! It's like a bad arranged marriage between your genes and your love for gulab jamun. My doctor says it's mostly lifestyle that triggers the genetic potential. So, more walks, less sweet talks! 😜

It's a mix of both, from what my family doctor explained. If your parents have it, your risk is higher (that's the genetic part). But then your diet, how much you move, and your weight are super important too (that's lifestyle). So we can definitely do our part to keep it at bay.

It's a blend, like many things in life. Our genetics set a certain predisposition, but our choices in daily living, our 'karma' of sorts, truly shape the outcome. Focus on wholesome food, a peaceful mind, and mindful movement. It helps balance both.

Dude, it's both. My dad's side has it, so I know I'm at risk. But my doc also keeps telling me to hit the gym and cut down on sugary drinks. So I guess my genes loaded the gun, but my lifestyle pulls the trigger, you know? Gotta be careful.
