Is trazodone used for pain?

My physiotherapist suggested a medicine for my chronic knee pain, and my friend mentioned Trazodone, saying it sometimes helps with pain. Is Trazodone actually used for pain management, or just for other issues?

I was prescribed trazodone mainly for sleep when I had severe insomnia, not directly for pain. While getting better sleep can definitely reduce overall body aches and improve mood, making pain feel less severe, it's not like a standard painkiller. For actual pain, my doctor gave me different meds.

Trazodone is primarily used for depression and sleep. While it might have some indirect benefits for pain by improving sleep, it's not a pain-relief medication. For pain, it's always best to consult your doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

My child had some chronic pain issues, and the doctors never mentioned trazodone for it directly. They gave specific pain medications. Trazodone is more commonly known for sleep and mood. So, if you or someone is in pain, please don't self-medicate with this. Get a proper medical opinion for the pain.

Nah, I don't think trazodone is for pain. My roommate takes it sometimes when she can't sleep because of stress. For actual pain, people usually take different medicines, right? Like, painkillers. So if you're in pain, probably best to ask a doctor specifically for that.

From my experience with managing thyroid, I know how important it is to take the right medicine for the right problem. Trazodone is typically for sleep and depression, not direct pain relief. If you have pain, you need proper medical advice. Regular follow-ups with your doctor are key to ensure you're on the right track for any condition.

No, it's primarily an antidepressant and often prescribed for insomnia due to its sedative effects. It's not a painkiller like paracetamol or ibuprofen. If you're experiencing pain, you need to consult a doctor, preferably at a reputable hospital, who can diagnose the cause and prescribe appropriate treatment, not just something for sleep.

Trazodone is mainly for sleep and mood. For pain, consult a doctor for a specific pain management plan.

Please, if you are having pain, do not try to use medications meant for other things. I made that mistake once by ignoring early symptoms and trying home remedies, and it got worse. Trazodone is not for pain. Go to a doctor and get your pain properly checked; they will tell you the right medicine for it.
