Is tooth pain always a cavity?

I've been having some tooth pain recently, and my first thought was it must be a cavity. But a friend said sometimes it's not. Is tooth pain *always* a cavity, or can it be something else?

Not at all. It could be a gum infection, a cracked tooth, sinus pressure, or even wisdom tooth eruption. Book an appointment with a dentist and get a proper clinical diagnosis instead of guessing.

Please get it checked immediately. I ignored a mild toothache thinking it was just a small cavity, and it turned out to be a deep bone infection that required emergency surgery. Don't wait like I did.

Oh, my teeth love finding new ways to hurt without any cavities! Sometimes it's just sensitivity to my cold water or gum swelling from chewing something hard. Getting old means every tooth has its own drama.

Tooth pain is honestly so draining, it makes it impossible to focus on work or sleep. I used to cry from the frustration. It's not always a cavity; sometimes it's just stress-related grinding, but the relief of knowing what it is after seeing a dentist is huge.

I was reading about this on a dental forum, and apparently, sinus infections can also cause severe tooth pain because the nerves are so close. It's quite interesting how connected everything is, so it's definitely not always a cavity.
