Is there medicine to dissolve kidney stones?

A relative mentioned some medicine could dissolve kidney stones. Is this actually true? I'm curious if there's medicine to dissolve kidney stones or if it's always about passing them or getting them removed.

Hey there! Potassium citrate is often used to help dissolve or prevent uric acid stones. However, calcium stones usually don't dissolve and just have to pass, so check with your doc to see what type you have.

Yes, doctors prescribe certain syrups that help dissolve uric acid stones. Since I have high BP, I had to make sure the doctor gave me a sodium-free option, so always discuss your full health history during your checkup.

Don't stress too much about it! There are actually very effective syrups and tablets that help dissolve certain stones or make them slip out without you even noticing. Just see a doctor and start drinking lots of water.

I can only share what happened to me; my doctor prescribed a specific citrate solution which dissolved my 4mm stone over three weeks. Every stone is different, so definitely ask your doctor about your options.

In my experience, modern medicines work wonders for small stones. Don't worry, just take the doctor's prescribed medicine on time, eat less salt, and drink plenty of barley water. You will be absolutely fine.

I was terrified when my ultrasound showed a stone, thinking I would need surgery immediately. But my doctor just gave me an alkalizing syrup, and within two weeks, the stone was gone. It is very manageable!

Yes, there are syrups that can dissolve them, but they taste like you are drinking liquid lemon soap! But hey, it beats surgery any day, so go get that prescription.
