Is there an 18 month sleep regression?

My toddler, who is 18 months old, has started fighting naps and waking up multiple times at night, even though he was sleeping well before. I'm wondering if there's an 18-month sleep regression that explains this sudden change?

Bro, my nephew is 18 months and he is giving my sister sleepless nights right now. He was a great sleeper but suddenly he just screams when put in the crib. Looks like a classic regression, we are just waiting it out.

I was just reading about this on a few baby blogs yesterday because my cousin's baby is facing the same. Apparently, 18 months is one of the hardest regressions because of tantrums and teething. It is quite a common topic online.

We thought our toddler's night waking was just a regression, so we ignored it for a month. Turned out he had severe tonsil swelling which was causing mild sleep apnea. If it goes on for more than 2-3 weeks, please get their throat and ears checked by a doctor.

Don't listen to online groups telling you to give various herbal syrups or oils to make the baby sleep. Every child has a different growth cycle. If the sleep issues are very severe, just talk to your pediatrician directly instead of trying random internet tips.

Yes yaar, 18 months wala regression actually hits different because they have proper toddler tantrums by then. My daughter would literally throw her bottle. We just had to be very firm with the sleep timings, otherwise, it becomes a habit.

I can't say if it is a medical regression, but in my personal experience, my son had a terrible phase at 18 months. He would wake up at 2 AM and want to play for two hours. It lasted about three weeks and then he automatically went back to his normal schedule.

I totally feel your pain, sleep deprivation makes you feel so anxious and exhausted. When my baby stopped sleeping at 18 months, I used to cry at night. Just know that you are doing great, and this is a known developmental phase that will pass.

My older sister is going through this with her 18-month-old right now. The kid just refuses to sleep before midnight. It looks super exhausting for parents, hope it gets sorted for you guys soon.

Honestly, at 18 months, my kid was waking up at midnight wanting heavy snacks like bananas or parathas. I think growth spurts make them super hungry. Once we increased his dinner portion slightly, he started sleeping much better.

A warm mustard oil massage on the feet before sleeping can help soothe the toddler. But if the baby is crying constantly or seems in pain, it could be stomach colic or ear issues, so you should definitely consult a doctor.
