Is there an 11 month sleep regression?

My baby is almost 11 months old and suddenly her sleep has become very disturbed, she wakes up crying. Someone mentioned 'sleep regression'. Is there really an 11-month sleep regression?

My daughter stopped sleeping around this time and we thought it was just a normal regression phase. But it turned out she had a silent ear infection that was hurting her when lying down. Please get your pediatrician to do a quick checkup just to rule out any underlying pain or teething issues before assuming it is just a phase.

Do not worry too much, child growth is never a straight line. My kids also went through these sudden sleepless phases around the one-year mark because they were trying to stand and walk. It is a very temporary thing, just keep their daytime routine fixed and this phase will also pass peacefully.

It is totally a real thing, mostly because of separation anxiety kicking in at this age. They realize you are not there when they close their eyes, so they resist sleeping. Don't start new bad habits like rocking them to sleep for hours, just reassure them briefly and let them settle.

Yes, many babies go through a major sleep shift around 11 to 12 months. Often they try to transition from two naps to one too early, which makes them overtired by bedtime. Try keeping them on two naps a bit longer and see if that helps them sleep longer at night.

Yes, it actually happens. Around 11 months, my son suddenly started waking up twice at night, which messed up my office schedule completely. Honestly, we just had to share shifts at night and stick to a strict 7 PM bath-and-bed routine. It took about two weeks to settle down so hang in there.

Don't stress, it is a very common milestone issue. Their brains are working super fast right now learning new words and standing up, so sleep takes a backseat. Just give them some extra hugs and don't change your basic bedtime habits right now.
