Is there always a fever with strep throat?

My neighbour's child has strep throat and a very high fever. My son also has a bad sore throat but no fever, so I'm confused. Does strep throat always have to come with a fever?

In our group discussions, we have seen that a fever doesn't always accompany strep throat, especially in adults. You might just have severe throat pain, difficulty swallowing, or swollen lymph nodes. The most practical thing is to let a doctor do a quick throat check instead of waiting for a fever.

Nahi, aisa bilkul zaroori nahi hai ki har baar fever ho hi. Agar gale mein tez dard hai aur nigalne mein dikkat ho rahi hai, toh seedhe doctor ko dikhao. Faltu mein ghar par baith kar fever aane ka intezar mat karo.

I got so terrified last month when my throat was aching terribly but my body temperature was completely normal. I thought it was some major issue, but my doctor diagnosed it as a simple throat infection and prescribed routine meds. Don't worry, a lack of fever is quite common, just visit a doctor to get checked.

I usually have a sensitive immune system due to my ongoing health issues, and I have had throat infections without running any fever. Since strep is bacterial, it is always safer not to self-diagnose. Please consult a general physician to get a proper opinion and treatment plan.

I had a similar experience last winter where my throat was so sore I couldn't even drink water, but my temperature was fine. My doctor told me that strep doesn't always trigger a fever in everyone. A simple doctor visit and some prescribed medicines sorted me out in a few days.

Hey, don't worry too much. It is entirely possible to have strep throat without a fever, as everyone's immune response is slightly different. Just make sure you are resting well, doing warm water gargles, and we can get a doctor's appointment today to be absolutely safe.

A fever is not a mandatory symptom for strep throat. If your throat pain is severe or worsening, please consult a medical doctor for proper advice.
