Is there always a fever with pneumonia?

My son has been coughing a lot but doesn't have a fever, and I'm worried it might be pneumonia. Someone told me that with pneumonia, you always get a fever. Is that true?

When I had mild pneumonia last year, I barely had any fever, just a dry cough and extreme fatigue that wouldn't go away. I thought it was a normal cold until my doctor ordered a chest X-ray. Get yourself checked by a professional if you feel breathless or have chest pain.

Beta, in my experience, pneumonia does not always show up with a high fever, especially in very young children or elderly people. Sometimes it is just a persistent cough, weakness, or slight breathing difficulty. Please do not wait for a fever to develop; see a doctor if there is persistent chest congestion.

Nahi babu, aisa zaroori nahi hai ki har baar tez bukhaar ho hi. Kai baar bina bukhaar ke bhi pichle hisse mein dard aur ghutan jaisa lagta hai pneumonia mein. Aap bilkul laparwahi mat kijiye aur acche doctor ko dikha lijiye.

Pneumonia can present atypically, meaning a fever may not always be the primary symptom. Symptoms like a lingering productive cough, fatigue, and chest discomfort are equally significant markers. Consulting a qualified doctor for a proper stethoscopic examination and chest X-ray is the best course of action.

Please take this seriously; I ignored a mild cough because there was no fever, and it turned into severe lung congestion requiring hospitalization. In elderly people, pneumonia can even cause lower body temperature instead of a fever. If you experience shortness of breath or chest pain, go to the hospital immediately.

While a light warm diet like vegetable soups and herbal teas can soothe a congested throat, they cannot cure lung infections like pneumonia. Pneumonia can indeed occur without a fever, so relying on home remedies alone is risky. Please visit a medical doctor for proper antibiotic or antiviral therapy.
