Is there a sleep regression at 2?

My daughter just turned two and her sleep has completely changed. She used to sleep through the night, but now she wakes up crying multiple times. My mother-in-law said it might be a 'sleep regression' at this age, is that a real thing?

My niece is turning two next month and she has suddenly started resisting her afternoon naps completely. Is this what is called a sleep regression at 2? Does it usually get resolved on its own after a few weeks?

Oh, the 2-year sleep regression completely broke me emotionally. I used to cry in the dark room because my daughter just wouldn't sleep for hours and I was so exhausted. Please know you are not doing anything wrong, it is a normal phase and it will pass.

Yes, absolutely! My son went through this at 2 and it was crazy. He suddenly wanted to play at 2 AM every night. We just stuck to his routine strictly and didn't give in to extra screen time, and he went back to normal in about three weeks.

Yes, the 24-month sleep regression is very common due to brain development, separation anxiety, and teething of second molars. Our pediatrician mentioned that maintaining a consistent bedtime routine and not introducing new bad habits like rocking or feeding to sleep is the key to passing this phase.

Our toddler went through this too. We resolved it by making sure he had plenty of physical activity and outdoor play during the day to tire him out. A good, active routine naturally helps them sleep better at night, just like it does for us adults.

Arre, don't stress too much! It is just a temporary phase because your little one is learning so many new words and starting to imagine things. Just keep the room dark, play some light white noise, and cuddle them. You are doing a great job!

It is a very tiring phase for parents. We used to give my grandson a gentle warm water bath and massage his feet with lukewarm coconut oil before bed. It relaxes their tired muscles and helps them settle down much faster during this regression.

I ignored my child's extreme night waking thinking it was just a 2-year sleep regression, but it turned out he had a painful ear infection we missed. If your child is crying constantly or seems in pain, please don't just wait it out—get a quick checkup with the pediatrician.

I panicked so much when my son suddenly stopped sleeping at 2, thinking he had some major neurological issue. But after reading and talking to other moms, I realized it is just a super common developmental milestone. He was back to his sweet sleeping schedule in a month.

Yes, the 2-year sleep regression is very real and usually lasts around 2 to 6 weeks, so please hang in there.

Haha, yes! At 2 years, they realize that sleep is the enemy of fun and they fight it like warriors. Just hold your ground, don't let them negotiate for 'one more toy', and remember that coffee is your best friend for the next few weeks!

Dekho, 2 saal ke bacche dimaag chalana seekh jate hain aur sone ke nakhre karte hain. Koi abnormal cheez nahi hai ye. Bas unka screen time shaam ko band karo aur sone se pehle light off karne ka pakka rule banao. Do hafte mein line pe aa jayenge.

Haan yaar, 2 saal par bacche nakhre karte hain sone mein, humare sath bhi hua tha. Woh actually bolna seekhte hain toh sone ka mann nahi karta unka na! Bas thoda patient raho, kuch din mein routine phir se set ho jayega.

Having raised two kids, I can assure you the 2-year mark brings a lot of changes. They start testing boundaries and experiencing vivid dreams. Be firm with your bedtime rules, but give them a little extra comfort if they wake up scared. This too shall pass.

Yes, it happens. A practical solution that worked for us was shifting his dinner time slightly earlier and reading a book together in bed before sleeping. It calms their active minds down without needing expensive toys or sleep consulting.
