Is there a dengue vaccine?
With dengue cases increasing every year, especially after monsoon, I'm always concerned for my kids. I was wondering if there's a vaccine available for dengue now to protect them?

Actually, some countries have a vaccine, but it is not widely available or commonly prescribed in India yet. Just like I do routine blood tests for my thyroid, you should consult your general physician to know the current status and precautions for dengue.
I also wanted to know this because dengue cases are rising near my college. Is the vaccine safe for people who never had dengue before? If anyone has taken it in India, please share.
While dengue vaccines are being researched and some are approved globally, their availability in Indian clinics is still very limited. The best defense right now is preventing mosquito breeding around your home and using repellents daily.
I totally get it, dengue season can be extremely stressful with platelet counts dropping so fast. Unfortunately, we don't have an easily accessible vaccine in India yet, so we have to rely on mosquito nets and timely hydration if infected.
When my son got dengue, I was so traumatized by his low platelet reports and kept crying, wishing there was a vaccine to prevent this pain. It is sad that we still don't have a common vaccine here, but please stay strong, with good hospital care, patients recover completely.
