Is there a cure for sleep apnea?

My wife complains I snore very loudly and sometimes stop breathing in my sleep, which sounds like sleep apnea. It worries me. Is there a permanent cure for sleep apnea, or will I need to use a machine every night?

Dekho boss, there is no magic pill that will cure it overnight. You have to change your lifestyle, lose some weight, and use a CPAP machine if the doctor says so. Don't run after shortcuts, go get a sleep study done first.

Actually, you should get your thyroid levels checked along with a sleep study. I have hypothyroid and it made my fatigue and breathing worse. Keep consulting your doctor regularly and track your reports; managing underlying issues can improve sleep apnea a lot.

A sleep study can be quite expensive in big private hospitals, so check government medical colleges or diagnostic centers for better packages. If you need a CPAP machine, look for rented options first before buying a costly one directly to see if you can adjust to it.

I tried everything from herbal teas to changing my sleeping positions, but honestly, home remedies only give temporary relief. For real improvement, a CPAP machine or medical weight loss guidance is what actually works. Don't waste too much time on home tricks.

I also wake up gasping for air sometimes and it is so scary, does this happen to you too? Honestly, I am terrified to sleep now. Is a sleep study painful? Please let me know if anyone got cured after using those machines.

Welcome to the group. Sleep apnea can be managed very successfully with lifestyle modifications and CPAP therapy, though a complete 'cure' depends on the root cause like weight or throat structure. Meet a pulmonologist soon, they will guide you perfectly.

My son had severe snoring and breathing pauses, and we found out it was due to enlarged tonsils. Getting those treated solved the issue completely for him. If you or a family member has this, please consult an ENT specialist to see if there is an anatomical block.

Agree with everyone here. Losing even 5 to 10 percent of your body weight can reduce sleep apnea episodes significantly.

Bhai, sleep apnea can be controlled well. Humare yahan ek doctor ne bataya ki wazan kam karne se aur seedhe peeth ke bal na sone se bahut aaram milta hai. Aap thoda roz subah ghumna chalu karo aur doctor babu se checkup karvao.

Hey, don't get overwhelmed by all the medical terms. Sleep apnea is very common and completely manageable once you start using a CPAP machine or work on weight management. Take it step by step, go meet a doctor, and we will get this sorted out.
