Is the liver an endocrine gland?

I'm studying endocrinology for an exam, and I'm a bit unclear on the liver's role. Does the liver function as an endocrine gland, releasing hormones directly into the bloodstream, or is its role different? Need to get this clear for my studies.

Haha, at my age, I just want all my glands and organs to work without causing trouble! But seriously, the liver is technically both exocrine and endocrine, as it produces bile (exocrine) and also hormones (endocrine). So it's a multitasker, like all of us after 40.

Oh, this is confusing! I always thought it was, but then I read something that made me doubt. Is it an exocrine AND endocrine? Or neither? Does anyone else find anatomy terms so stressful to remember?

It's okay to be unsure about these things, our bodies are complex! The liver acts as both an exocrine gland (releasing bile into ducts) and an endocrine gland (releasing certain proteins and hormones directly into the bloodstream). So yes, it has endocrine functions too.

My health app has a detailed section on this! It says the liver is actually considered both an exocrine and an endocrine gland. It releases bile (exocrine function) and also synthesizes and secretes various hormones and proteins directly into the blood (endocrine function).

The liver has both exocrine (like bile production) and endocrine functions (like producing certain hormones for the bloodstream). It's a complex organ. If you have specific health concerns related to this, always get it checked by a specialist, don't rely on general info.
