Is tea tree oil good for dandruff?

My scalp has been super flaky and itchy lately, making me self-conscious. Someone at the barber shop mentioned tea tree oil for dandruff. Is it a good solution, and how do I use it?

Dandruff, the uninvited party guest on your scalp! 😂 Tea tree oil is quite popular, many shampoos have it. It's like the bouncer for those pesky flakes, but if it's a huge party, maybe call in the big guns (a doc!).

With things like dandruff, sometimes it's more than just the surface. Like my PCOS, everything is connected. Tea tree oil can help some people, but it's potent. Patch test is a must! And if it's persistent, a dermatologist can help find the root cause, rather than just treating symptoms.

My dermatologist actually recommended a shampoo with tea tree oil when I had dandruff. He said its antifungal and antiseptic properties can help, especially if the dandruff is caused by yeast overgrowth. But he also stressed that it shouldn't be used undiluted directly on the scalp. Always check the concentration in products.

Tea tree oil does have known antimicrobial benefits, which is why it's often included in anti-dandruff products. It can be effective for mild to moderate cases. However, if your dandruff is severe or causing discomfort, consulting a dermatologist would be the most advisable step for proper diagnosis and treatment.

I've heard about tea tree oil for dandruff, but I'm always worried about trying new things directly on my scalp. Has anyone here used pure tea tree oil and did it cause any irritation? My scalp is already a bit sensitive, so I'm hesitant.
