Is sweating out a fever real?

My nani always used to say ki agar bukhar ho toh rajai odh ke so jao aur khoob paseena nikalo. Is this actually true, or is it just an old wives' tale? My son has a slight fever now, so thinking about it.

Don't just believe everything on the internet, yaar. Sweating is your body's natural way to cool down when it's overheated, which happens during a fever. It's a symptom, not a cure. You need to address the underlying cause of the fever. Always check with a doctor.

Oh, for fevers, we've tried so many things at home! People often say to wrap up and sweat it out, and it does feel like relief when you start sweating. It often means the fever is peaking or coming down. Just make sure to drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration, that's very important.

From a body function point of view, sweating is how your internal thermostat works. When you have a fever, your body raises its set point. When it 'breaks', your body tries to cool down, causing sweat. So it's more your body normalizing than actively 'sweating out' the sickness itself. Stay hydrated!

I totally get why you'd ask this! When you're all bundled up and finally sweat, it really does feel like the fever is leaving your body. It's often a sign that your body's temperature is coming down, which is a good thing, but it's not necessarily 'sweating out' the illness itself.
