Is sunlight good for psoriasis?

I have psoriasis on my elbows and knees, and it flares up quite often. Someone told me that getting some sunlight can really improve it. Is sunlight actually beneficial for psoriasis?

I tried everything from aloe vera to mustard oil, but I found that a little bit of mild morning sun really helps in shedding the dry scales. Just don't sit out for too long, otherwise the skin gets very dry. Apply a thick layer of simple coconut oil immediately after.

For me, the early morning sun between 7 AM and 7:30 AM has been very soothing for my skin. I can't say if it works for everyone, but it definitely made a noticeable difference in reducing my skin itching.

I am always so scared to step into the sun with my psoriasis patches, thinking it might burn or spread. Does anyone else feel a slight stinging sensation initially when they go out in the sun? Is that normal or should I stop?

My skin has improved so much in the last six months. My doctor actually recommended mild sun exposure as natural phototherapy. Doing it consistently for 5-10 minutes every morning really helped fade my red plaques.

Yes, moderate sunlight is clinically proven to help psoriasis, but avoid peak hours to prevent sunburn.

Please be very careful with the sun. I overdid it last summer thinking it would cure my psoriasis quickly, but ended up with severe sunburn which triggered a massive flare-up across my whole body. Please consult your doctor for proper timing.

I was reading some medical journals online and apparently, UVB rays from the sun slow down the rapid growth of skin cells in psoriasis patients. It's fascinating how a natural thing like sunlight can act like medicine if used correctly.

My son has mild psoriasis on his elbows. His paediatrician told us that 10 minutes of gentle morning sun is very beneficial to slow down the fast skin growth. We make sure he wears loose cotton shirts so his skin stays comfortable and dry.

I actually track my morning outdoor walks on my fitness app. Getting that 15 minutes of early morning light not only helps my psoriasis plaques but also keeps my daily step count on track and improves my sleep quality.

Natural UV light is great for psoriasis, but you must protect the unaffected areas. Apply a good sunscreen on your normal skin, and let only the psoriasis plaques get a few minutes of gentle sunlight. Keep your skin hydrated!
