Is sudden cardiac arrest the same as a heart attack?

My neighbour had a sudden cardiac arrest last week, and I'm confused if that's the same thing as a heart attack. Can someone explain if sudden cardiac arrest and a heart attack are the same?

They sound similar, but they are different beasts. A heart attack is a plumbing issue where blood flow is blocked, while sudden cardiac arrest is an electrical issue where the heart suddenly stops beating. Both are major emergencies though, so don't take either lightly!

They are different conditions, but both require expensive emergency care. It is highly practical to have a good health insurance policy that covers cardiac emergencies and ambulance costs, because hospital expenses can escalate rapidly.

No, they are different. A heart attack is when a clot blocks blood flow, and cardiac arrest is when the heart's rhythm fails completely. Please remember, for either of these, no home remedy like ginger or water will work; you must rush to a hospital immediately.

I always thought they were exactly the same thing. So, does a heart attack actually cause cardiac arrest, or can they happen completely independently? It is all very confusing and a bit scary to read about.

As a diabetic, I have a higher risk for both. A heart attack is a blockage, while cardiac arrest is an electrical malfunction. I manage my diet strictly to prevent artery blockages that could lead to these life-threatening events.

Don't rely on random social media posts to understand cardiac conditions. A heart attack is a circulation problem, whereas cardiac arrest is an electrical failure of the heart. For any chest pain or serious symptoms, go straight to a cardiologist.

No, they are different. A heart attack can sometimes trigger sudden cardiac arrest. Since I have high BP, I make sure to do regular ECG and lipid profile tests to monitor my heart health and keep my lifestyle clean.
