It can be okay, but you have to customize it. Avoid the sweet onion or honey mustard sauces because they are loaded with hidden sugar. Go for multigrain bread, load up on veggies, and stick to grilled proteins.
As a diabetic myself, I am very careful with any bread. Subway's bread still has a high glycemic index and can cause blood sugar spikes. If I eat there, I usually convert my sub into a salad bowl with olive oil dressing instead.

Just because there are green veggies staring at you through the glass doesn't make it 100% diabetic-friendly! The secret sugar is in those tasty sauces and the soft bread. Skip the cookies at the counter, else your sugar levels will go on a roller coaster.
These modern fast foods are rarely ideal for managing diabetes. In our days, we relied on whole grains like ragi and methi seeds soaked in water for sugar control. If you must eat at Subway, keep the portion very small and monitor your levels afterward.
