Is steam good for asthma?

My son has asthma, and sometimes when he's struggling to breathe, my mother suggests steam. I always do it, but I'm not sure if it actually helps with his asthma in general, or just during an attack.

For respiratory issues, steam can sometimes help soothe the throat, but for asthma, very hot steam can actually trigger a sudden attack in some people. It is much safer to rely on your doctor's prescribed inhalers and monitor your condition regularly.

I love spicy food but it always triggers my asthma-like cough! People often suggest steam inhalation, but honestly, it makes me feel even more suffocated. I prefer just drinking warm water instead.

I know how terrifying it is when you can't breathe properly and you want to try any remedy to get relief. But please be careful, as hot humid air can actually trigger bronchospasms in asthmatics. Please consult your physician before trying steam.

I recently had a bad wheezing phase. My doctor explicitly told me to avoid direct hot steam because the moisture and heat can irritate sensitive airways and make asthma worse. Stick to your regular inhalers.

Whenever I try steam inhalation during chest congestion, my breathing actually feels more heavy and tight instead of opening up. Has anyone else experienced their asthma symptoms getting worse with steam?
