Is stage 5 kidney disease terminal?

My mother-in-law has been suffering from kidney problems for a while, and now the doctors are saying it's stage 5 kidney disease. I'm so scared. Does this mean it's a terminal condition and there's nothing more that can be done?

Stage 5 is kidney failure, but it is absolutely not terminal if you start dialysis or get a kidney transplant. My father has been on dialysis twice a week for four years now and still leads a good life. Keep a strict check on fluid intake and potassium levels.

At stage 5, please do not waste time on any home remedies or herbal powders as they can damage whatever kidney function is left. It is a critical stage, but with proper dialysis under a good doctor, patients can live for years. My prayers are with you.

Look, let's be direct. Stage 5 means the kidneys have stopped doing their job. It's not terminal if you immediately start dialysis or look for a transplant donor. Stop worrying and get them to a nephrologist right away.

My relatives suggested many local treatments when my cousin reached stage 5, but we trusted our doctor and started dialysis. It has kept him stable and active. Trust the modern medical procedures, they work well.

I was researching this online. It seems stage 5 is called end-stage renal disease, but 'terminal' is not the right word because dialysis and transplants act as artificial kidneys to keep the patient alive and functioning.
