Is stage 4 kidney disease terminal?

My brother's doctor said his kidney disease is now stage 4. We are all quite shaken. Does 'terminal' apply to stage 4 kidney disease? What can we expect?

No, stage 4 is not terminal. It means advanced kidney damage, but patients can live for many years with proper medical care.

We take my uncle to a major kidney care center here in the city. The doctors there clearly told us that stage 4 can be managed for a long time. Please sit down with a senior nephrologist and ask them to map out the exact plan for your case.

Don't search for remedies or answers on random forums or WhatsApp groups for something this serious. Half of the information online is misleading. Go directly to a qualified nephrologist to understand the exact status of the kidney function.

It is not terminal but your diet has to change completely, which is the hardest part for foodies like me. My aunt had to cut down on pickles, papad, and heavy gravies because of sodium and potassium limits. But honestly, once you get used to the new diet, life goes on smoothly.

Since I manage my diabetes carefully to protect my kidneys, I know that stage 4 requires extreme care but isn't terminal. High sugar can damage kidneys further, so keeping your glucose strictly under control is absolutely essential at this stage.

I have seen many people in my generation living with kidney issues for over a decade. At stage 4, you just have to be disciplined with your lifestyle and medicines. Don't let fear take over your mind; stay calm and trust your doctors.

When my mother got diagnosed with stage 4, I spent sleepless nights crying and thinking the worst. But she is still with us, stable and active after three years. It is extremely scary, but please hold on, it is definitely not an immediate dead end.

Let's be clear: stage 4 is advanced chronic kidney disease, not a terminal sentence. It requires a proper treatment plan, regular nephrologist visits, and possible preparations for dialysis or transplant. Get your facts straight from a specialist rather than panicking.

It is not terminal, but you need to track everything meticulously. We use a smart app to log my dad's daily water intake, potassium, and sodium levels. Keeping a digital log of blood pressure and GFR trends helps the doctor adjust medicines perfectly.
