Is squamous cell carcinoma skin cancer?

My neighbor recently got diagnosed with something called squamous cell carcinoma, and I overheard them mentioning skin cancer. I was wondering, is squamous cell carcinoma a type of skin cancer, or is it something else entirely?

Yes, my dear, it is a type of skin cancer. My husband had a small patch on his neck years ago, but the doctors removed it quickly and he was perfectly fine. Just get it treated early.

Yes, it's the second most common type of skin cancer. It usually develops on areas exposed to sun, like the face or neck. Make sure you use a good broad-spectrum sunscreen when training outdoors.

Haan na, it is actually a type of skin cancer. Sun exposure se hota hai mostly. If you or someone you know has some weird growth, directly doctor ko dikha lo, ignore mat karo.

I am so worried because my uncle was just diagnosed with this. Is it very dangerous? Has anyone else's family member recovered from squamous cell carcinoma successfully?
