Is spirulina good for diabetes?

My father was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and we are exploring different natural supplements. I read about spirulina. Is spirulina good for managing diabetes or controlling blood sugar levels?

I was panicking when my sugar levels shot up and started looking up every supplement, including spirulina. I later realized that a simple balanced diet and regular walks worked best. Spirulina might help slightly, but don't stress too much about these trendy supplements.

Spirulina does have some antioxidants that can support general health, but it cannot replace your prescribed diabetes medicines. Make sure you buy it from a reputed, certified brand because poor quality ones can have heavy metals.

I researched spirulina extensively and found it can help lower HbA1c levels marginally. However, my diabetologist clearly told me that supplements are secondary to daily portion control and metformin. Always consult your doctor before starting any herbal pill.

Haan, some studies say it helps with insulin sensitivity, but it is not a magic pill na. It is better to focus on cutting down white rice and sugar first before buying expensive supplements.

Haan na, spirulina is quite popular these days for sugar control. But honestly, simple home food is best. Don't take any supplements without asking your family doctor first, ho na.
