Is spinach bad for thyroid?

I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and I'm trying to eat a healthier diet. I love spinach, but I've heard conflicting things about it and thyroid health. Is spinach bad for people with thyroid problems?

Actually i also had the same doubt. Spinach is totally fine to eat if you cook it properly, just dont eat it raw.

There is a lot of conflicting information online about goitrogenic foods. While spinach does have these compounds, cooking mostly deactivates them. Ultimately, it is best to ask your endocrinologist based on your latest thyroid panel reports.

I log all my meals on HealthifyMe and goitrogens in spinach are barely an issue unless you eat it raw in massive quantities daily. Cooked spinach has high nutritional value. Just track your portion sizes and you are good to go.

Beta, I have had thyroid issues for 15 years now and I eat palak paneer regularly. Just make sure to boil or cook it well as cooking neutralizes the compounds that affect thyroid. No need to stop eating greens completely.

My grandmother always told us that greens are the best medicine, but when my thyroid levels went up, I consulted my doctor. She said eating moderate amounts of cooked spinach is perfectly safe. Always good to trust your specialist.
