Is spelt flour good for diabetics?

I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes a few years ago, and I'm always trying different flours for my rotis. I heard about spelt flour being healthier than regular atta. Is spelt flour a good option for diabetics?

I recently managed to bring my fasting sugar down. I tried spelt flour rotis and they actually kept my glucose spikes lower than normal wheat flour. It has decent fiber, but you still need to watch the portion size.

Spelt flour is an ancient grain and has more fiber than regular maida or wheat, but remember it is still a carb. I recommend checking your post-meal sugar after eating it to see how your body handles it.

Spelt is quite good because of its high water solubility and fiber content. However, in our Indian kitchen, ragi or jowar flour are much cheaper, easily available, and work just as well for controlling diabetes.

Spelt flour has a lower glycemic index, which is great. But to really manage those glucose levels, pair your meals with a 15-minute post-meal walk. It helps clear the glucose from your bloodstream much faster.

Spelt flour is great, but trying to find it in my local kirana store is a workout in itself! If you can find it, go ahead, but don't stress if you have to stick to regular multigrain atta.

I am newly diagnosed and still learning about different grains. Where do you get spelt flour in India, and does it taste similar to our regular ash आशीर्वाद atta? I would love to try it if it helps.
