Is soy sauce good for diabetics?

My husband has diabetes, and we're looking for ways to make his food more flavourful without increasing his blood sugar too much. Someone told me soy sauce might be okay, but I wanted to confirm. Is soy sauce good for diabetics, or should we avoid it?

It is not exactly 'good' or therapeutic for diabetes, but it won't spike your sugar since it has very few carbs. If you are having a stir-fry with a bit of soy sauce, just make sure to go for a brisk 20-minute walk after your meal to help with glucose disposal. Keeping active is key.

Let's be realistic, soy sauce is just a condiment and doesn't offer any health benefits for diabetes. The only thing you need to watch out for is the high sodium content, which can mess with your blood pressure. Use it sparingly for taste, but don't treat it as a health food.

Yaar, soy sauce is actually fine if you are just adding a few drops to your stir-fry veggies. Just don't go overboard because of the salt content. I always buy the light or low-sodium version from the supermarket to keep things on the safer side.

No need to buy fancy diabetic-specific products or completely give up on taste. Just limit your soy sauce usage to once a week when making noodles or fried rice at home. Dilute a teaspoon of it with a little water before adding it to the pan so it spreads easily with less quantity.

My elder uncle has been diabetic for twenty years and loves his occasional home-cooked fried rice. Our family physician told us that a small splash of soy sauce is perfectly fine, but warned us to avoid restaurant Chinese because of the excessive MSG and salt. Cooking at home is always the safest option.

My dad has high sugar, and when we make noodles at home, we just put a tiny bit of soy sauce for the color. It doesn't seem to affect his glucose readings at all. Just don't drown your food in it and you should be good.

Agreed, it is safe in small amounts. Just look for low-sodium options to keep your blood pressure in check.
