Is soy milk good for kidney patients?

My mother has chronic kidney disease and we're very careful about her diet. Her doctor mentioned plant-based milks, and I was wondering about soy milk. Is soy milk good for kidney patients, or should we avoid it?

My roommate's dad is dealing with renal issues, and I remember them discussing that soy milk has a lot of phosphorus and potassium, which might be tough on the kidneys. Honestly, better not to risk it without asking a proper nephrologist first.

You should check with a doctor before drinking it. Kidney issues require very strict diet control regarding potassium and phosphorus.

Dealing with kidney diet restrictions is so stressful, I completely understand your worry. Since kidney health depends heavily on individual blood levels of potassium and calcium, what works for one person might not work for another. Please check with your dietician before making any changes.

Don't trust any random diet advice on social media or forums for something as sensitive as kidney health. A wrong balance of minerals like potassium can cause serious heart issues in kidney patients. Please consult your nephrologist directly to know if soy milk is safe for your specific stage.

My father is on a low-protein, restricted-potassium diet for his kidney condition, and the doctor specifically told us to limit soy milk. The mineral content in soy is quite high, which can put extra pressure on weak kidneys. Definitely get a personalized diet chart from his hospital.
