Is sourdough bread good for type 2 diabetes?

I have Type 2 diabetes and I'm always looking for healthier food options. My son told me that sourdough bread is very good and has a low glycemic index. Can anyone confirm if sourdough bread is indeed a good choice for someone with type 2 diabetes?

Actually sourdough is much better than normal brown bread, yaar. The fermentation process slows down glucose release in the body. But don't go eating half a loaf at once, control is still important!

When my husband was first diagnosed with type 2, I panicked and banned all bread from the house. Later, our doc explained that genuine sourdough is actually okay because of its low GI. It was such a relief and it hasn't messed with his sugar levels at all.

Humare yahan to normal roti banti hai, par doctor babu ne bataya ki fermented foods achhe hote hain sugar ke liye. Sourdough bread agar mil jaye toh khana theek hai, par thodi matra mein hi khayein.

Sourdough is definitely a safer option than store-bought white bread. Just keep your portions moderate and eat it alongside some fiber or protein. You will be absolutely fine.

I was researching this for my dad recently. Sourdough has lactic acid which apparently lowers the glycemic load. It sounds promising, but we are still searching for a local bakery that makes it fresh without preservatives.

Since I deal with insulin issues due to PCOS, I have to be very careful with breads. Sourdough works better for me compared to regular wheat bread, but I still check my glucose reaction. Try a small slice first and see how your body handles it.

Don't fall for these internet health hypes blindly. Even if sourdough is fermented, it still contains carbohydrates that can raise blood sugar. Please consult your specialist to know if it fits your specific insulin therapy.

As a diabetic for 10 years, I test my sugar regularly after eating. I found that sourdough only causes a mild rise compared to multigrain bread which often has added caramel color and sugar. But still, limit yourself to one slice.

Keep your mind calm and stress-free, as that also helps manage diabetes beautifully. Sourdough is a wholesome choice made with patience and natural fermentation, which is good for the body. Eat happily and take care of your health.

Between long office hours, managing diet is tough. Sourdough is a convenient breakfast option for diabetics as it keeps you full longer, but make sure to pair it with boiled eggs or paneer to balance out the carbs.
