Is sleepiness a sign of diabetes?

For the past few months, I've been feeling extremely sleepy, even after a full night's sleep. My uncle has diabetes, and he told me that excessive sleepiness can be a symptom. Is there any truth to that?

Hey, don't stress too much! Feeling sleepy could just mean you had a heavy lunch or didn't sleep well last night. But if it's happening every single day, it's a good idea to just get a quick blood test done to be safe.

I always worry about this too whenever I feel tired after meals. Yes, extreme daytime sleepiness can sometimes be linked to high blood sugar levels. Please don't panic, but getting a fasting sugar test done might help clear your mind.

Please take this seriously. I ignored my constant fatigue for months, which led to severe diabetic complications later on. If you are feeling unusually sleepy along with frequent thirst, please consult a doctor immediately.

Yes, constant tiredness and sleepiness can be a symptom of diabetes because the body struggles to use glucose for energy. I always suggest getting an HbA1c test done once a year anyway. It's a very simple check.

It can be a sign, yes. Along with consulting a doctor, try to cut down on heavy white rice and sweets. Drinking warm water and eating a few soaked almonds in the morning can also help keep your energy levels steady.

Yes, sleepiness is a known indicator of blood sugar fluctuations. Given a busy schedule, it is easiest to just book a home blood collection service for a routine checkup. It saves time and gives you clear answers.
