Is skin cancer itchy?

I have a new mole that sometimes feels a little itchy, especially after being in the sun. I'm trying not to worry too much, but I've heard some things. Is skin cancer often associated with itching?

My dermatologist explained that while many itchy skin conditions are benign, some types of skin cancer, particularly basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, can indeed be itchy, tender, or even bleed easily. Melanoma can also sometimes cause itching. So, persistent itching in a specific spot needs medical evaluation.

Haye Ram, seems like everything under the sun can be a symptom these days! Yes, my doctor told me some skin cancers can indeed be itchy. Just when you think you're safe, another thing to worry about, haan? Best to get any persistent itch checked, before my hair turns even more grey worrying.

I can only speak from what I've heard and experienced generally. A friend of mine had a suspicious spot that was very itchy and it turned out to be something serious. So, yes, itching can be a symptom for some. But I won't give medical advice, just share.

Oh, I didn't know that. I always thought it was just a growth. So if a mole starts itching, should I be worried then? What kind of itching should I look out for?

For small everyday itches, I usually try aloe vera or coconut oil, but for something potentially serious like skin cancer, natural remedies won't cut it. Yes, some skin cancers can be itchy, or feel like a persistent irritation. If it's bothering you, please see a doctor and don't try home remedies.

Yes, it can be. Not all itchy spots are cancer, but definitely, some skin cancers can cause itching. Especially if it's a new spot, or an old one that's changed and now itches, get it biopsied. Simple as that.

If a skin lesion is persistently itchy and doesn't resolve, it's a symptom that requires attention. Don't procrastinate. Get it checked by a dermatologist efficiently. Ignoring such signals can lead to bigger problems and more time-consuming treatments later.

I totally get how confusing skin symptoms can be. While not all skin cancers are itchy, it's definitely a possible symptom for some types, particularly if the itching is persistent and localized to a specific lesion. It's always best to get any concerning changes evaluated.
