Is sickle cell disease cancer?

My cousin was recently diagnosed with sickle cell disease and our family is very concerned. Someone in the family said it's like a type of blood cancer. Is sickle cell disease considered cancer?

Oh, I thought it was some kind of blood cancer. So it's not a cancer then? That's good to know. What exactly is it then, like a genetic disorder?

No, it is not cancer. My neighbour's child has it, and it's a genetic blood disorder. The red blood cells become crescent-shaped. It's different from cancer, which is uncontrolled cell growth. Always trust what the doctor says, they explain it well.

No, sickle cell disease is not cancer. It's a genetic condition where the red blood cells are not shaped properly. Cancer involves abnormal cell growth. My cousin has it, and the treatment and management are very different from cancer treatments.

No, it's not cancer. It's a blood disorder where red blood cells are shaped wrong. This causes blockages and pain. It's inherited, meaning it runs in families. Cancer is different, it's about abnormal cell growth.

Definitely not cancer. It's a genetic condition affecting red blood cells, making them stiff and C-shaped. It's important to understand the difference. People with it need specific care, not chemotherapy like cancer patients.
