Is sex good for mental health?

Sometimes after a stressful day at work, I feel very low and anxious. My girlfriend suggests that intimacy helps her relax and feel better. Is sex actually good for mental health, like reducing stress or anxiety?

Definitely, I feel it helps with stress relief and just feeling more connected and happy. The endorphins or whatever they are, really make a difference for mood. Plus, closeness with your partner is always a good thing.

Haan, for sure! It's like a good workout but also fun, you know? Releases all the tension and makes you feel more relaxed. Plus, less stress = better mental health, right?

I totally get why you're asking this. When my anxiety was bad, even thinking about intimacy felt stressful. But honestly, when you're comfortable and connected, it can be a huge mood booster and stress reliever. It helps you feel more 'normal' and less isolated.

See, generally, it's known to reduce stress and improve mood due to hormone release. But if you have specific mental health concerns, it's always best to ask your psychiatrist or therapist directly. They can give advice tailored to your condition and medication.

Initially, I used to overthink everything, including how certain activities impact my mood. But I found that healthy intimacy definitely contributes to overall well-being. It's like a natural de-stressor and helps you feel emotionally closer to your partner, which is good for your head space.
