Is sertraline bad for liver?

I'm on sertraline for my mental health, and recently had some blood tests done for my liver. I'm a bit worried now. Is sertraline bad for the liver, or does it usually not affect it much?

Hmm, that's a good question. I've heard that many medications can impact the liver since it processes everything. So it's wise to be curious about this. What did you find in your research?

Oh no, hope not! Our liver already has to deal with all my late-night biryani cravings. Jokes aside, any medicine that affects a vital organ needs proper monitoring. Always check with your doc.

Any strong medicine will be processed by your liver and kidneys. That's their job. So, if your doctor prescribed it, they would have considered your overall health. It's practical to just follow their dosage and ask them about any specific concerns you have.

My doctor specifically mentioned that sertraline, like many medications, is metabolized by the liver. While liver damage is rare, it's a potential side effect, especially with pre-existing liver conditions or higher doses. Regular liver function tests might be advised if there's concern.

Haan, almost every medicine liver pe thoda impact karta hai, na? But Sertraline ka specific effect is something only a doctor can tell after seeing your reports. Don't worry too much, just ask them directly.
