Is ripe plantain good for diabetics?

My husband has diabetes, and we're always looking for healthy food options. We love eating plantains, especially ripe ones. Can he eat ripe plantain, or will it spike his sugar levels too much?

It's completely normal to feel confused about specific foods when managing diabetes, there's so much to learn! Ripe plantains are quite starchy and become higher in sugar as they ripen. So, for diabetics, they should be eaten in very small, controlled portions, or avoided, as they can cause blood sugar spikes. Best to confirm with your doctor or dietician.

Having dealt with diabetes for years, I can tell you that ripe plantains are a big no-no for me. They convert to sugar very quickly. Stick to greener, less ripe ones if you absolutely have to, and in very small portions, always with a good source of protein and fiber. Or better yet, avoid them and choose other fruits that are lower in glycemic index.

Honestly, for diabetics, every carb counts. Ripe plantains turn very sweet and starchy, so they can definitely spike blood sugar. Don't just assume it's 'healthy' because it's a fruit. Always verify with your doctor or a dietician who can check your personal sugar control. Random internet advice is risky.

Beta, with diabetes, you have to be very careful with fruits that become sweet when ripe, like ripe plantains. They contain a lot of natural sugars and starch, which can elevate your blood sugar levels significantly. It's much safer to avoid them or have them in very tiny, controlled portions, only after discussing with your doctor.

Oh, ripe plantains are so yummy, especially fried! 😋 But for diabetics, they can be a bit of a sugar bomb, yaar. As they ripen, their starch turns into sugar. So, maybe just a tiny, tiny piece if you absolutely can't resist, or stick to the greener, less sweet ones! But always check with your doc, for sure!

Ripe plantains, due to their high sugar and starch content, are generally not recommended for diabetics. They can cause significant blood sugar spikes. If you must consume them, extreme moderation and consultation with a dietician are essential.

Ripe plantains are quite high in carbohydrates and sugars, which can be problematic for diabetics. It's always best to check with your doctor or a dietician about specific fruits and portion sizes suitable for your condition. Don't risk your blood sugar levels.
