Is rheumatoid arthritis a life threatening disease?

My sister has been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis, and her condition seems to be getting worse despite treatment. We are all very concerned. Is rheumatoid arthritis a life threatening disease?

It is not life-threatening, so don't worry. But the monthly medicines and regular blood tests like CRP and CBC can put a dent in your budget if you don't plan. Try to get tests done from government labs or generic medicine stores to save on costs.

I have had this condition for nearly thirty years now. In my experience, it can make life difficult on bad days, but it is definitely not life-threatening. With modern treatments available today, younger people have it much easier than we did.

Hey, please relax. It is a painful condition, yes, but it is not going to shorten your life. Just make sure you follow the doctor's prescription strictly and don't take unverified herbal medicines that might harm your kidneys.

It is completely normal to feel scared when you hear terms like 'autoimmune disease'. Physically, it is not life-threatening, but emotionally it can break you down if you feel isolated. Please take care of your mental health along with your joints.

I was also terrified when my tests came back positive, thinking is this going to kill me? Did anyone else feel extreme anxiety when they were first diagnosed? The doctor assured me it's not fatal, but I still get scared sometimes.

It is not life-threatening, but it needs lifelong management just like my thyroid condition. You must get your regular liver and kidney function tests done because the strong arthritis medicines need to be monitored by your doctor.
