Is rem sleep good or bad?

My friend was talking about how important REM sleep is, but then another person said too much of it can be bad. Now I'm confused. Is REM sleep good or bad for us, or does it depend on the amount? I just want to make sure I'm getting healthy sleep.

REM sleep is very good, but if you are experiencing severe nightmares or waking up gasping for air during this stage, it could be a sign of sleep apnea. Please consult a doctor or get a sleep study done if you face such issues.

It is absolutely good and necessary, not bad at all. To get healthy sleep, just keep your dinner light and avoid scrolling on your phone in bed. Simple habits are enough to ensure you get all the right sleep stages.

It is totally good! REM sleep is actually when all the creative magic and dreaming happens in your brain 🧠. It helps you stay sharp and happy the next day, so cherish those dream hours!

It is definitely good, unless you dream about your boss calling you on a Sunday! On a serious note, REM is essential for your brain to reset, so don't worry, it's a very healthy part of sleeping.

It is 100% good. I read up on this when I started working out; REM sleep is what keeps your mental focus sharp, while deep sleep repairs your body. You need both to perform at your best during the day.
