Is rem sleep good?

I often feel drowsy even after sleeping for 7-8 hours. My wife suggested I look into sleep quality, specifically REM sleep. Is REM sleep generally considered a good and restorative part of our sleep? Just trying to figure out if I'm getting enough of it.

Of course it's good! REM sleep is when you have those wild dreams where you are flying or showing up to school without preparation. Jokes aside, it is literally your brain's way of cleaning up and filing away memories, so it's super important.

It is actually very good for you, yaar. REM sleep is when your brain processes all the stress and learning of the day. If you don't get enough REM, you'll feel super cranky and lose focus very easily the next morning.

I was just reading about this yesterday! Turns out REM sleep is crucial for cognitive function and learning. It is the stage where we dream, and apparently, it helps our brain solve complex problems. So yes, it is definitely good!

Yes, it is very important. I noticed that on days I sleep late and miss my morning REM cycles, I feel less creative and struggle with work. Getting a full 8 hours ensures you get enough REM sleep at night.

Yes, sister, it is very good. This is the time when our mind rests properly and we see dreams. If we sleep peacefully without any worry, our body naturally gets this good sleep and we wake up fresh and happy.

I used to panic when my fitness watch showed I had high REM sleep, thinking it meant my brain wasn't resting properly. But my doctor reassured me that it is completely normal and healthy. It just means your mind is processing everything well.
