Is raw onion good for kidney patients?

My brother has kidney disease, and we're very particular about his diet. We usually cook all his vegetables, but I heard that raw onion has some good properties. Is raw onion safe and good for kidney patients, or should he avoid it?

My father is a kidney patient and he eats a little raw onion with his meals. His doctor said it's fine because onions are low in potassium. But again, that's just his case, so check with your own doctor.

I am trying to learn more about renal diets for my uncle. Are raw onions really safe, or does cooking them make them better for the kidneys? If anyone knows, please share.

I have managed my family's health for years, and onions are generally great because they are low in sodium and potassium. Raw onion is fine in small amounts, but don't use it as a cure for kidney issues. Proper medical treatment is always necessary.

Yes, onions are low in potassium and safe for most kidney diets. Still, consult your renal dietitian to be sure.

I used to panic every time my mother ate raw onion, thinking it would hurt her creatinine levels. But the doctor reassured us that onions are actually kidney-friendly because of their low potassium content. Just keep the quantity normal.

When my brother was treated for kidney issues at Max Hospital, the doctors gave us a very specific diet chart. Onions were allowed, but you should ask your nephrologist clearly because kidney diets depend heavily on your blood test reports.
