Is raisin bran cereal good for diabetics?

My doctor told me to watch my sugar intake because of my diabetes. I usually have a bowl of cereal for breakfast, and I was wondering if raisin bran cereal is a good option or if it has too much sugar for diabetics.

I panicked so much when my father ate a big bowl of this and his sugar shot up. But don't worry, it was a temporary spike because of the portion size. Once we cut down the quantity and added some milk and walnuts, his readings became totally normal.

I logged raisin bran on my calorie tracker app and the sugar content was shockingly high for one serving. The carbs-to-fiber ratio isn't great for glucose control. If you have a continuous glucose monitor, you will see a rapid spike right after eating it.

No, it is not ideal at all. Most commercial boxes are loaded with high-fructose corn syrup to keep the raisins soft. Switch to plain rolled oats or ragi flakes if you want a quick breakfast that won't mess with your diabetes.

In our time, we ate simple foods like barley barley or roasted chana. These boxed cereals are processed and not good for sugar patients. If you feel like eating something sweet, have a small piece of apple instead of these packaged raisins.

Why buy expensive imported cereals that have hidden sugar? Simple home-cooked dalia, upma, or methi paratha are much better and cheaper options for diabetic patients. It keeps the stomach full and keeps sugar in check without any tension.
